REPORT ON MRU’s PARTICIPATION IN THE 7TH NCHE EXHIBITION
National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) organizes annual exhibition for all Universities and other tertially institutions of Higher Learning.
This was the 7th exhibition under the theme “Skilling Uganda through innovative and Quality Training”
Seminar Theme”Realigning Higher Education for Socio-Economic Development”
All Universities and Tertially institutions were requested to prepare paper presentations, supporting the projects falling in line with this year’s theme highlighted above.
The Faculty of Science under Information Technology Muteesa 1 Royal University, Art and Design took the lead in presenting projects.
The Department of Engineering presented four designed projects i. e Bio gas plant, solar water heater, Chicken automatic feeder system and Heater design system. All these projects were fabricated by the Engineering students from Kirumba and Kakeeka assisted by their lecturers and Heads of Departments.
The following are students who participated in the design
1. A project presented by a 2nd year mechanical student from Kakeeka Campus supervised by Eng .Wangi Godfrey.
This showed the heating and Boiling of water using energy from the sun’s rays.
2. Bio gas plant projectpresented by Electrical Students Diploma and Bachelors from Kakeeka Campus Supervised by Eng Wangi and Eng Bumaali.
This showed how waste materials (Decomposing matter) connected to copper coil and produce heat energy /Gas for Cooking.
3. Automatic Feeder poultry system
This was presented by Diploma and Degree students of Kirumba Campus supervised by Eng Katende Benard.
NB: Many participants in the show welcomed and liked this new innovation and even left their contact addresses for possibilities of acquiring the displayed technology.
4. The Head of Department was Bumaali Mukasa was the overall supervisor for all the above projects.
5. Security Management project
This was presented by students of Information Technology assisted by their lecturers, Head of Department and Faculty Deans.
This project required one to have a stationed Camera in the designated area, connected to Laptop/Computer-internet , Smart phone(IP address of Camera) where you could connect as see whatever was happening at designated area of interest.
Generally, MRU Stall was actively visited and the comments/Remarks given by the public visiting stall were impressive.
Muteesa 1Royal University was issued with a certificate of participation of NCHE Catalogue for the 7th NCHE Exhibition.
I also thank Administrative Assistant, Wasswa Micheal for coordinating the whole activity which ended peacefully.
