Job role: Responsible for the development, implementation, and coordination of the MRU marketing planning. Organize and direct the Marketing Department. Ensure that marketing projects are well coordinated and complement the strategic goals and objectives of MRU. Participate in the inception and development of new services based on perceived member needs. Research marketing needs and analyze marketing trends. Supervise and appraise the activities of subordinate personnel and ensures that all promotional activities are performed professionally.

Key result areas/responsibilities:

  1. Develop, prepare and implement strategic marketing plan.
  2. Oversee departmental budget.
  3. Develop, implement and evaluate marketing campaigns.
  4. Research and recommend service enhancements to provide quality service.
  5. Responsible for editorial content, design, production, and distribution of all publications, both print and electronic.
  6. Manage digital marketing efforts including website design & maintenance and Social Media.
  7. Ensure development of services are compliant.
  8. Develop, apply, and evaluate policies and procedures for the department.
  9. Oversee business development activities.
  10. Monitor, maintain, and order as needed, promotional products, logo wear & print material.
  11. Develop and administer marketing database
  12. Popularise MRU to the public by carrying promotional campaigns in all University activities in line with the University policies
  13. Oversee students enrollment and  retention

Job knowledge, skills and experience:

  1. Master’s Degree in Marketing Management.
  2. A Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing Management
  3. At least Three (3) years’ experience in Marketing Management with demonstrated success.
  4. Strong leadership and consensus building skills; marketing management and strategic planning experience; and a proven track record in development of and administering a marketing program.
  5. Polished presentation and interpersonal skills.
  6. Must possess top level business management and interpersonal skills with ability to work well with people at all levels in and outside the organization.
  7. Possess strong creative, strategic, and analytical skills.

  1. Job title: Manager Research, Grants and Sponsorship

Role definition: To develop and implement research policies and strategies, and a framework for tracking avenues of potential research grants and sponsorship of academic programs in line with the research and development objectives.

Key result areas/responsibilities:

  1. Develop a University research strategy/agenda and identify funding opportunities in line with the academic needs and research policies and procedures
  2. Develop an annual work planning and budget for research activities and the funding program in line with MRU budgeting framework.
  3. Plan and implement research training programs to build capacity of staff in proposal writing, report writing and publication
  4. Disseminate calls for proposal announcements to staff and encourage eligible ones to apply according to the research strategy
  5. Organise national and international academic conferences and invite academic professional and practitioners to present papers in line with research policies
  6. Mobilise conference sponsors and business exhibitors as a means of generating funds to facilitate research activities in line with MRU research strategy
  7. Institute a research committee of experienced researchers within the University to serve as reviewers and evaluators of qualifying research projects in line with the funders’ guidelines
  8. Recognise and reward staff who have excelled in acquiring research grants and accumulating peer reviewed publication in recognised journals.

Qualification and experience

  1. Any master’s degree with plan A research experience
  2. At least one research publication
  3. PhD is an added advantage
  4. Three (3) years of experience in research area
  5. Relevant international experience in research funding
  6. Qualified understanding of accounting, finance, marketing, human resource and leadership principles
  7. Ability to analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, trend reports, research agenda
