Muteesa I Royal University is granted a Cisco Networking Academy. Prof. Vincent has officially unveiled this to I.T students.

The Vice Chancellor Prof. Vincent Kakembo met some Information Technology students at Kakeeka Campus. Within his address to them, Prof informed the students and entire community that MRU is now a cisco academy.

Cisco Networking Academy is a worldwide leader in networking systems, the academy is a global IT and cyber security education program that partners with learning institutions around the world to empower students with skills. 

Professor, informed them the Key courses that would enhance students’ employability/marketability
i. IT Essentials (PC repair and maintenance)
ii. CISCO Certified Networking Associate (CCNA)
iii. CCNA Cyber Security
iv. CCNA Security
v. CISCO Certified Networking Professional (CCNP)
vi. Linux administration
vii. Advanced Linux Administration
viii. Python |Programming
ix. Entrepreneurship

Why these must be additional courses, not necessarily built into the mainstream degree
program (s).
Cisco Academy programs are highly grounded professional specialized courses to enable
students to choose areas of specialization. It cannot be inbuilt in the mainstream program
because the Information Technology, Computer science degree programs, students do offer
specialization. Students specialize when they advance to master’s degree programs or enroll of
certified professional certificates like CISCO certificates.
Cisco academy program provide an entry point to the world of networking. which are
predominant in the job market.
