Muteesa I Royal University was honored to host the 2025 Buganda Retreat, a prestigious gathering that brought together cultural, academic, and political leaders to reflect on the progress of the Kingdom and its future.
A major highlight of the retreat was the meeting between the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Vincent Kakembo, and the Katikkiro of Buganda, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga. The two leaders engaged in a fruitful discussion centered on strengthening collaboration between the Kingdom and academic institutions in promoting education, cultural preservation, and youth empowerment.

Dr. Kakembo expressed his deep appreciation for the Katikkiro’s visit and reiterated the university’s commitment to aligning its vision with the developmental goals of the Buganda Kingdom.

In his response, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga commended the university’s efforts in advancing education and preserving Buganda’s cultural heritage.
