Job Description

MRU seeks to recruit a highly motivated, innovative and committed candidate to fill the position highlighted above
Reports to: Dean Faculty of Science Technology, Engineering Art and design

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a forward-thinking IT strategy aligned with the university’s mission and goals.
Oversee the management of IT infrastructure, systems, and services to ensure reliability, security, and scalability.
Lead and mentor a diverse team of IT professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Atleast 3-5 years teaching experience in I.T.
Collaborate with academic and administrative stakeholders to identify and address technology needs
Drive initiatives in data science, analytics, and emerging technologies to enhance research and decision-making capabilities.
Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and maintain robust cyber security measures.
Manage budgets, resources, and vendor relationships to deliver cost-effective IT solutions.
Lecturing and teaching of subject matter in the areas allocated to you by the Faculty Dean, subject to periodic reviews.
Ensuring that lectures begin on the very first day of a given semester/term. This is extremely important, as it ensures student retention. Failure to begin lectures on the first day without a valid reason will lead to automatic contract termination.
. Developing of learning materials such as preparing schemes of work and visual Aids and maintaining Records to monitor student’s progress achievements and attendance
Taking the lead in research activities, including supervision of students’ research.
Engaging in and administering effective marking and invigilation of examinations and other class assessments.
Participating in Faculty meetings, seminars and workshops aimed at skills development.
Developing a Master of Science in Information Technology and Data Science (MITED) programme, as a key addition to the present postgraduate programmes. Note that this is very urgent.
And any other duties as may be assigned by your immediate supervisor

Qualifications & Experience::

A PhD in Data Science, IT, or a closely related field.
Proven leadership experience in IT management, preferably within a higher education or research environment.
Strong expertise in data science, analytics, and emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, and cloud computing.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
A strategic thinker with a track record of delivering innovative IT solutions.
A commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
